Mayo wellness program honored
Wellness experts will measure anything, from vegetable servings to stroke risk. Some track data exceptionally well, according to the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA). The nation’s leading wellness organization recently named Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse a platinum-level Well Workplace, its highest designation.
The recognition was awarded for You Matter, the wellness program for Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare employees. The You Matter program met stringent reporting requirements for its wellness challenges, webinars, education, behavior change and lifestyle management programs.
WELCOA recognizes best-in-class, results-oriented programs that have been carefully researched, thoughtfully designed and flawlessly executed over time.
Effective because it’s data-driven
There’s nothing subjective about it. Participation rates, success in meeting lifestyle goals and even biometric data such as blood pressure all feed data-hungry analysts working to improve results. In developing You Matter, Mayo Clinic Health System experts in La Crosse dug into Mayo Clinic behavioral research to solve the biggest puzzle in wellness … how to better engage and motivate people. You Matter was the result.
Director of Health Promotion Lori Freit-Hammes, who develops wellness initiatives for Mayo Clinic Health System and western Wisconsin businesses, sees the far-reaching effects of a well-designed wellness program. “Helping employees become happier and healthier creates a more positive environment for everyone an organization touches… patients, employees, their families and the larger community. Diligently tracking the data is the only way to develop these programs and make sure they work.”
You Matter knowledge has been applied directly to Wellness at Work, a set of wellness challenges provided at no cost to Health Tradition employer groups. Like You Matters, its outcomes are impressive.
